This unit explores frameworks and teaching approaches for developing digital literacy in secondary education. The unit examines the Australian Curriculum's Digital Literacy general capability and strategies for its effective integration across subject areas. Participants will develop understanding of how to implement, assess, and capitalise on affordances of current technologies; how to approach emerging technologies including artificial intelligence for educational purposes; and how to apply principles of design when integrating digital tools. Participants will create learning experiences that demonstrate effective use of ICT to enhance educational outcomes while supporting the development of digital safety, wellbeing, and critical information literacy.

After successful completion of this unit, students will be able to:
1. Employ ICT safely, responsibly and ethically in learning and teaching;
2. Implement strategies that use ICT to design learning opportunities across a range of learning areas; and
3. Develop competence in Digital Literacy to support inclusive practice.

This unit is only available to students in the Master of Secondary Teaching course.
Students must have passed units 11354 Using Data to Improve Learning G AND 11351 Curriculum and Assessment in Secondary Education G.
